I just did an online search about the town of Chimney Rock, and it's heartbreaking.
My general recommendation with all the tragedies we've seen, is that we monitor our own energy and take care not to harm ourselves by spending a lot of time diving into depressing stories of tragedy that we cannot do much about. I think with all tragedies, there is an extent to which it's good to have a basic awareness of what occurred, and beyond that seems to relate to what the military calls a "need to know basis" meaning, if you need to know something for work you're doing (eg rescue work) you'd seek more info.
I do believe the Cabal government is obstructing efforts to do search and rescue efforts, and as with Maui, there may be an ulterior motive of the Cabal seeking to capitalize on other's losses.
