Why did we choose [the] WHO as the first organization to work with?
Before I lived in the Findhorn Foundation in the 1980s I was aware of green products. I picked mint from the creeks in the Boulder, CO hills for Mo Siegel, founder of the Celestial Seasonings way before that company was a glimmer in his eye. I worked in health food stores in Boulder & Denver and used Dr. Bronner’s All-One soap since the late 1960s. Local health food stores were owned by friends who lived in the community and we knew our famers such as Jack, who brought the goat yogurt to The Little Kitchen diner and the baker 2 doors down who used organic flour and at one point became the baker at Tassajara, where I also went in the early 70s. I don’t remember the word ‘green’ tossed around except in the Green Mountain Grainery (Granary?) name. And I don’t know if anyone I knew was talking about sustainability.
But we had Hannah Kroeger (New Age Foods) in the ‘hood, and she made sure we all ate well (organic food). Many of us would wait on line to see her in order to be told what herbs or protocols would help us stay healthy and heal the holes in our auras produced from our most recent acid trips.
Those were the days my friend. And here were all are. Despite earth day, sustainability and the ‘new green deal’, we probably have more chemicals surrounding us (inside our terrain and out), than ever before. But that doesn’t stop us. For years my husband and I ran Marin County certified ‘Green’ business. At the time we got our license, a representative from the committee visited us on site to ensure we met the criteria. We did - and we called it our eco business. Organic bedding, mattress, towels, curtains, bamboo floor using non-toxic glue, tile in bathroom, earth-friendly cleaning products, organic food, no VOC paint, and a library of books about safe products, eco homes, etc. We no longer run that business. We use that space as an office now, and for years I wanted to replace the curtains. I was on Fascist book today and an ad caught my eye. What a surprise since they know everything about me anyway — where I shop, my shoe size and favorite color, how many dogs I have, what I do for fun, and what friends they think I want to add to my collection.
Here’s the ad, and what inspired me to write about GREENWASHING and even more.
Oh gee, since I clicked on the ad, I can’t it now. I spent 10 minutes scrolling through FB which is like a penny arcade of distraction for my nervous system. The ad, one of many ‘sponsored ads’ that have my name (and probably yours) written all over it, appealed to my interest in eco, natural, earth friendly, sustainable, terms. I was browsed a beautiful assortment of draperies, duvet covers, and other household items and was about to put one item in my cart (after all, the price was even lower than the previously discounted price if I use this code)… blah blah blah - we know your marketing ploys people.
WELL….
WATCH OUT PEOPLE. . . because just as I was ready to buy those sustainable-earth-friendly drapes for our eco space…I clicked on a link that took me to…….
what????? really?????? this company’s association with THE WHO. And I ain’t ‘talking-’bout-my-generation’ who but the freakin’ WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION, with a lengthy description of why their very first charity donation was the WHO.
Listen up here…. so that you’re not led down that very green yellow-brick road that leads, well, to WHO knows where?
The page where I landed after I clicked out of the FB web had all kinds of info about their green, sustainable product — even the one that was 100% polyester. I guess you can recycle polyester which makes it sustainable and green. But I wanted cotton, 100% eco-tex organic cotton. Do they not know that cotton is one of the most chemically sprayed and processed of any agricultural products? What’s eco about cotton if it’s not certified organic by Eco-Tex?

I researched the company’s mission and found their Ownkoti’s Charity Cause dropdown menu at the side of the product that I put in my cart. Imagine my disgust when I read that their first charity donation was to The WHO — followed by their reasons for selecting the WHO. Other than Bill Gates, who donates to the WHO and why does the WHO even accept donations? WHO owns the WHO?
If you know what Ownkoti strives for, you'll know that we've worked hard to grow our brand without harming the earth.
OwnKoti is established with a clear vision: to introduce a new greener lifestyle for you with compelling designs, exceptional value and superb customer service for everyone. All of the products are reusable, bio-reducible, sustainable, natural, non-toxic, and made of recycled materials.
By using recycled green materials in our product, we consume less new raw materials and lower our environmental impact while existing materials get new life.
We want to have a positive impact on the Planet, but we wanted to take that one step further. We'll be transparent about the charities and organisations we work with as we start working with them.
Being a member of protecting the planet means we donate a portion of our Ownkoti income to an approved environmental non-profit. We'll be transparent about the charities and organisations we work with. Here are what we received from the WHO (World Health Organization) after donating.
Why did we choose WHO as the first organization to work with?
With the outbreak of COVID-19, people have gradually realized the importance of harmonious coexistence between mankind and nature. The WHO has been working to enhance and maintain the prevention, treatment and care of infectious diseases.
Our brand Khows [knows] that we must start from you and me, refuse to eat wild animals, and pay attention to dietary hygiene. By the way, we are committed to taking action toward anti-racism – and to meaningful, lasting change. Ownkoti conducts its business in an ethical manner. We are concerned about human rights.
Be in line with the mission of the WHO: to enable people everywhere to attain the highest possible level of health. That is why we choose WHO as the first organization to work with.
Really?
Do you have any other companies who have similar policies and world views?
We stopped being airbnb hosts when we saw that airbnb was funding many of the legislators the votes for all the horrible mandates and other woke SF bills.
I’m not perfect. In summer 202 I closed my Amazon, Netflix, Facebook & IG accounts (was banned shortly after by Twitter). So what am I doing back on FB (and then kvetching about it)? Unfortunately I’m enrolled in several courses that use FB as the social component to discuss lectures and provide a space for interactivity. I waited 2 years but finally caved and not sure how long I’ll stay on it. In the meantime, I won’t be so quick to click on products that look too good to be true, even if they have been AI-selected to provide me with a great shopping experience. And you can bet that I WON’T GET FOOLED AGAIN!
I WON’T GET FOOLED AGAIN!
Happy Beautiful Sunny Gorgeous Day in Marin.
PS - Remember Ace who rant the Video West & Pizza in the valley? He had brain surgery and is now immobilized. If you would like to visit Ace in a rehab facility in San Rafael, please contact befree@marinfreedomrising.com. Ace always had fliers of freedom information on his counter at the Video Store. His brother said he’s love visitors.
Love that reminder of the Holy Man Jam at Boulder in 1970. I was there, too. What a fun time it was, all of 25 years of age. Who in that camp of want-to-do sadhus could have imagined the times we are living in now? Again, thanks for the memories.
That’s WHO we were in 1970, let’s re-commit to exposing the fools-in-charge that are fooling the sheeple masses of today‼️🔥 We are here now for a purpose!!
