ACTION ALERT! Talk w/ County Supervisors and our State Assemblyman this Friday, Jan. 13th at 10:30 AM
Hi Sustainable TamAlmonte Friends,Please scroll down for the information on a chance to talk to Assemblymember Damon Connolly and the new members of the Marin County Board of Supervisors: Eric Lucan and Mary Sackett.Forward to others. Recommend calling in with one or more of these points:1. Re: the Marin County Housing Element, urge the Supervisors to do the following:Take another month or two and get the Housing Element right!
Accept the Planning Commission's recommendations. Reject overly ambitious staff recommendations that exceed state requirements.
A state fine for a month or two is less costly than the next eight years of housing policy that reduces safety and harms constituents.
Protect the county. Then prepare to become a co-plaintiff with other counties in litigation against HCD and inaccurate, unreliable RHNA methodology.
Support the Our Neighborhood Voices Initiative
2. Re: State housing policy, urge Assemblymember Damon Connolly to do the following:
Support the Our Neighborhood Voices Initiative
Reject new housing policy based on indiscriminate building in environmentally sensitive areas.
Reject policy that requires cities to give up public land, buildings, and parking lots.
Amend housing policy that diminishes local control and environmental protections.
Thank you in advance for your advocacy. Together we can make a difference!
Call To Action: Marin Peeps —- Tell Damon what you think:

Power Outages - Here’s how it went for us…
A few weeks ago we loaned our Champion dual fuel generator to friends in Marshall who are living in a trailer with 3 toddlers. They went away for a few days and when they returned the storm made their driveway impassable, and they were unable to get home to use or return our generator. Good thing that we were prepared and had another EcoFlow Delta Generator which can be charged either by solar or electricity. I made sure it was plugged in and ready with a full charge in case of emergency. We also had 3 Halo Bolts. So how did we do this week when we lost power 3 times (usually over night, but once during the day), and lost internet once even with power restored?
Well, the Champion was gone so out came the fully charged EcoFlow, which got the highest ratings in its class of home generators, higher than the Jackery. What I didn’t know, because it’s not in the regular part of the manual but in the storage an maintenance part, is that you have to discharge the battery every 3 months to 30% and then charge it back up to 60% for storage or the battery will forever die. Who knew? So there went our generators. Have you read the fine print on your generators?
The Halo Bolts, while exquisite at charging dead car batteries, went from fully charged to dead within a couple of hours of charging a MacBook Pro. It would not turn on the switch to light the propane fireplace like the contraption I’m about to tell you about will do. It would not light our water heater, not start our fridge. Also, Halo Bolts take a long time to charge.
But EMRYS to the RESCUE, came over with 3 things: a small marine battery with a handle to carry it, a small inverter, and a trickle charger. With these 3 small things he was able to get our propane fireplace going, heat hot water in our water heater, and a lot more. So I asked him if he’d get these things for us ASAP so we would be prepared for the next outage. Cost:This little group of high powered thingies cost $274 vs. my EcoFlow Delta which cost about $1500 plus solar charging panels. True, the EcoFlow can be charged by solar, which we haven’t figured out how to do with the marine battery/inverter duo, but heck there hasn’t been any sun in these woods for weeks.
So these are the components: Please know how to use them and proceed at your own risk. I don't use Amazon so found other places for us. You can do a search to find out the best prices from reputable dealers other than Amazon.Inverter: BESTEK 500W Pure Sine Wave Power Inverter DC 12V to 110V AC Converter with 4.8A Dual USB Car Charger ETL Listed
