Sing-a-long with Mitch..or Karen Drucker
Karen Drucker is a Marin singer/songwriter who I’ve seen perform with her blues and jazz band a few times at Arrevederci Italian Restaurant in San Rafael. She is fun, talented, and engages with audience. (The food there is good and they do have some organic selections.) Although I hang out in the same county as Karen, I first found out about her in an online program where her songs are paired with a different daily theme on topics of somatic, trauma healing, and parts work (kind of like Internal Family Systems work). Every day we have a new themed lession, and every day we hear a different Karen Drucker song. One of my favorite lyrics of Karen is “I will only go as fast as the slowest part of me feels safe to go”, from her song Gentle With Myself.
She has heart-filled songs, chants, silly ditties like (Triggered), and songs that poke fun at our human qualities with a sense of compassion and OK-ness. Recently one of my friends in Florida hired Karen to do a zoom birthday party so she could invite her friends from all over the world to sing along to more than just the Happy Birthday song.
If you’d like to Sing Along, join Karen this Sunday night. I don’t usually mention people who don’t identify with the medical freedom world, but I feel like Karen’s brilliance and ability to help us touch in deeply to our core, with compassion, love, and a bit of humor, is a gift you all may enjoy. I’d rather sing or play music in person and still I have enjoyed a few Sunday nights zooming along with Karen. I’m inspired by her work and hope you will be too.
